Schwalbe Aerothan TPU Tube Description:

The Schwalbe Aerothan TPU Tube is an evolutionary leap forward in bicycle tube technology. Proudly made in Germany, the TPU material used in the construction of these tubes is a special blend that was developed in collaboration with the plastic experts at BASF, and this material creates a tube with about half the weight of a rubber inner tube along with a reduction in rolling resistance. In simple terms, this means that the bike will accelerate up to speed quickly and the rider will be able to maintain that speed more easily, saving energy for a finishing sprint, to charge full steam up a steep climb, or to have enough left in the tank to take the long way home.

Additionally, these tubes have an impressive level of pinch flat prevention, puncture resistance, and because this TPU tube holds its shape better than a rubber tube if the casing of the bike tire gets compromised, there is even protection against tire blowouts. Last but not least, these tubes are made entirely of TPU, including the valve stem, which allows these tubes to be recycled once they reach the end of their useful life.

• Makes for a simple upgrade from butyl rubber inner tubes by significantly reducing rotational weight, having lower rolling resistance, and still offering additional puncture resistance and pinch flat prevention
• If the tire casing gets damaged but the tube is not impacted, the TPU tube will hold its shape significantly better than a rubber inner tube, offering protection against catastrophic blow outs
• Removeable valve core allows valve extenders to be installed so these tubes can be used in very deep profile rims
• Packs down to one-third the size of a traditional butyl tube, saving room in on-bike storage and in flat repair kits for other gear
• Traditional latex puncture sealing liquid does not adhere correctly to TPU, so tire sealant usage not recommended
• Rim brake and carbon fiber rim compatible thanks to the excellent tolerance for heat of the specially blended TPU materials
