When teaching using traditional training wheels, the ride is awkward and proper turning is not learned; with a Strider bike, the rider learns not only to balance the bike, but also how to lean into turns. The seat on Strider Sport bikes are low enough for little riders to get on by themselves, then, after gaining momentum, the rider simply pulls their feet onto the integrated footrests and coasts, just like a real bike! After establishing a base of experience with a Strider push bike, the transition onto a regular pedal-powered bicycle is much easier than when teaching using a tricycle or training wheels.
