Comments about Hutchinson Equinox Folding Road Tire:

Over 1500 miles on my rear tire and cording is becoming visible. 1 flat. I'm ordering 3 more. After spending up to $70 for big dollar tires these Equi's outperform the fat man's hands down. I'd be hard pressed to switch again. Riding in Arizona's paved and occasional unpaved roads, too.

Comments about Hutchinson Equinox Folding Road Tire:

I opted for the folding hutchi tire becuase the reviews indicated easy mounting, and the wire beaded hutchis I was using were frustrating and difficult to re-seat. The folding version was not disappointing, and after the first mounting I can pop these on and off with my thumbs (which comes in handy when swapping in a spare tube in the middle of a monsoon deluge). I was also pleasently surprised by the rather decent performance (roll and grip). As for durability, these took me over 2100 miles (with one front-back rotation at 500) through an Arizona summer on craggy Tucson pavement. I am replacing them becuase the harder center compound has worn out and I am getting more flats. I rode gatorskins about two years ago and got just about the same # of flats and less milage. I have tried a number of value oriented tires since because I believe biking shouldn't cost me more than driving(hence Nashbar). For me, Miles/$, Hutchison tires and a pair of tuffy strips is a much better deal than anything else I have tried. The folding ones have really come in handy.

Comments about Hutchinson Equinox Folding Road Tire:

I've been carrying one of these for four months while training for the Crater Lake Century. 20 miles into the Century, my primary tire (different brand) was destroyed on chip seal. Was able to finish the ride because I had this folding tire with me. 40+ miles were on week old chip seal with fresh gravel. For this price, I didn't, and won't, get caught without a folding spare.

Comments about Hutchinson Equinox Folding Road Tire:

The casings on these started to show large cracks only about a week after installing them. They have not blown out but it scares me a little.
They roll well and are pretty light especially for the price. I don't think I would buy them again but if you are looking for a lightweight budget tire they might be alright. I think I'm going to go back to Vittoria Rubinos for training tires.

Comments about Hutchinson Equinox Folding Road Tire:

Replaced my mid priced IRC Firestorm tires with these Hutchinsons. Light weight for the price and installed them on my carbon deep profile wheel set. Rode the Whiteface Mt Uphill race this weekend and they where grippy at the turns and performed flawlessly. As with new tires, they were a bit tricky to get on but some patience and good technique will get you going in no time. Nice simple graphics provide a good neutrality for any bike. No punctures yet and using good riding technique will help you avoid flats, plus rotating tires will extend the life of them! Excellent quality and value!

I can't justify spending a bundle on tires. Have bought a few sets of hutchinson tires in the past an always have had good luck with them. These seem to be on par with all the others i have gotten. Can't beat the price on these.
